Purchasing Manager

Job title: Purchasing Manager – Nova Structures Ltd

Reporting to: Managing Director

Contract: Full time (could initially be a part-time role)

Annual Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 based on experience

Objectives of the role:

As Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for sourcing materials, components equipment, goods, services and managing vendors. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend and work closely with the commercial department in support of bid management. The role will require you to work closely with our Head of Design to ensure that all materials and components conform to current building regulations and where possible carry BBA and KIWA certification.

Main duties and Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Managing Director and other heads of department in developing and implementing an ERP/MRP system.

As part of the management team you will produce a monthly report, stats and analytics related to the purchasing function in keeping the business fully appraised.

  • Manage the purchase and supply of all procured goods and services through the company’s ERP system
  • Successfully manage a large supplier base; negotiating improved supplier terms and pricing
  • Conduct market research and report on movements in price and changes in terms being offered
  • Constantly update the companies ERP system to reflect current pricing of materials and components
  • Manage supplier relationships including quality and supply issues, improving supplier performance, and building successful supply chain partnerships
  • Identify and assess new supply options for current and upcoming purchasing requirements
  • In conjunction with the HSEQ Manager, complete the internal supplier approval process to ensure that all suppliers meet the relevant business standards, and all relevant certification and records are up to date
  • Arrange and attend supplier meetings in order to analyse and discuss supplier performance, as well as gain knowledge of the full portfolio of products and services offered
  • Maintain regular communication with the Production, Commercial and Design teams to finalise and confirm the weekly/monthly production schedule based on customer requirements and available material stocks
  • Analyse internal purchasing processes and suggest improvements to ensure continuity of the department’s performance
  • To work closely with the Head of Design to ensure that all materials procured meet the current Building Regulations, carry BBA or KIWA certification and are in accordance with the Nova accredited building fabric
  • The ability to drive down into the efficacy of products

 

Education, Qualifications & Experience

  • Ambitious, flexible, career orientated individual who would relish the opportunity to be a key driver in a dynamic, pioneering business
  • At least five-years’ experience as a Purchasing Manager/Buyer
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing purchasing role (desired), or housebuilder
  • Materials management, planning, scheduling and broad vendor knowledge.
  • ERP/MRP system knowledge (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferable, but not essential)
  • The ability to read and understand engineering/manufacturing drawings
  • Proven ability to motivate and manage people
  • Highly organized with a proven track record of managing manufacturing purchasing schedules on time and to budget

  • Ability to conduct supplier audits
  • Sense of humour essential
